Trauma & PTSD Therapy at Michigan Wellbeing
Heal from the Past. Thrive in the Present.
Healing Starts Here.
When trauma lingers, it can feel like you’re stuck in survival mode—reliving the past, feeling disconnected from yourself and others, and struggling to feel safe in your own body. Whether you’ve experienced a single overwhelming event or years of cumulative stress, trauma leaves imprints on your nervous system, emotions, and sense of self. But healing is possible.
At Michigan Wellbeing, we specialize in trauma-informed, integrative therapy that supports deep, lasting recovery. We don’t just treat symptoms—we help unravel the roots of trauma, working with the mind, body, and nervous system to foster true healing.
Understanding Trauma and PTSD
Trauma is more than just a difficult memory—it’s an experience that overwhelms your nervous system and changes the way you relate to the world. PTSD and trauma-related challenges can show up in many ways, including:
✔ Flashbacks, nightmares, or intrusive thoughts that make it hard to feel present.
✔ Chronic anxiety, hyper vigilance, or emotional numbness.
✔ Difficulty trusting others or maintaining relationships.
✔ Feeling stuck in cycles of shame, guilt, or self-blame.
✔ Body-based symptoms like chronic pain, fatigue, or digestive issues.
✔ Overwhelming stress responses (fight, flight, freeze, or fawn).
If this sounds familiar, you’re not alone—and you don’t have to navigate it alone. Trauma is a physiological and emotional experience, which is why healing must address more than just thoughts and behaviors.
Our Approach to Trauma Therapy
At Michigan Wellbeing, we use an integrative, whole-person approach to help you process trauma, regulate your nervous system, and reclaim a sense of safety. Our therapists blend relational, somatic, and evidence-based approaches to ensure healing happens at a pace that feels safe and supportive.
Relational & Depth-Oriented Therapy – Trauma impacts how we relate to ourselves and others. We help you identify patterns from past relationships, build emotional resilience, and cultivate self-compassion.
Somatic & Polyvagal Therapy – Trauma isn’t just stored in the mind—it lives in the body. We use nervous system regulation techniques to help you move from survival mode to a place of safety, connection, and calm.
Mindfulness & Self-Regulation Strategies – We integrate mindfulness, grounding techniques, and breathwork to help you reconnect with the present moment and reduce emotional overwhelm.
Narrative & Attachment-Based Work – Trauma can fragment your sense of self. We explore your personal story, attachment wounds, and inner strengths, helping you rewrite your narrative with empowerment and healing.
Cognitive & Behavioral Therapies (CBT, DBT, ACT) – For clients who need practical coping strategies, we use research-backed techniques to address negative thought patterns, manage distress, and create healthier responses to triggers.

What To Expect From Therapy at Michigan Wellbeing
A Thoughtful, Individualized Approach – Therapy is not one-size-fits-all. We take the time to understand your experiences, your history, and the ways you relate to yourself and others.
A Whole-Person Perspective – We integrate relational therapy, somatic work, self-regulation techniques, and evidence-based interventions to address challenges from multiple angles.
Practical Tools for Everyday Life – Therapy is not just about insight—it’s about gaining the tools and strategies to navigate emotions, relationships, and daily life with confidence.
Deep, Root-Cause Healing – Instead of just managing symptoms, we work to understand and shift underlying patterns so that real, lasting change can happen.
A Flexible, Evolving Process – As you grow, your therapy evolves with you. We adjust the approach based on what’s working, ensuring that each session remains impactful and aligned with your needs.
💡Therapy is about more than just coping—it’s about building a stronger, more resilient, and more connected version of yourself. Whatever challenges you’re facing, we are here to help you move through them with care, expertise, and a truly integrative approach to healing.
